Damaged Gutters? Learn About Repairing Your Gutters.  For any Bellevue Gutter Repair, please read below.

Most gutter systems in Bellevue are made out of copper, aluminum, steel, and zinc. Their main function is to redirect water off of and away from your roof. If your gutter breaks, you might have to deal with anything from a leak to a complete downpour, and that can damage anything that’s beneath that roof (like a garden, porch, patio, or even your basement and foundation!). That’s why you need to make sure your gutters are working properly.

If your gutters get clogged with leaves, pine needles, or other debris, that might damage them as well.  And you know how easy that can be with all of the beautiful trees we have in Bellevue! That’s why it’s important to keep your gutters clean—to make sure that they’re not damaged, and that they keep doing their job! But if your gutters do get damaged, it’s not a lost cause. Here’s what you need to know about repairing your gutters.

The Right Gutter Equipment

Before you think about fixing your damaged gutters yourself (as opposed to hiring someone) you’ll need to make sure you have a few things. Always wear protective gloves so you don’t have to cut up your hands during repairs. The second most important thing is a good, sturdy ladder. And the third thing is someone to hold the ladder! Some of the most commonly reported injuries are from falling from a ladder. For this reason alone, it might be better just to bring in a pro.

Soldering

If you have experience soldering, that’s one possible route for repairing cracked gutters. A leak is way easier to fix than a break is, and you might be able to simply use a scrap of metal of the same type that your gutters are made from.  If you’ve never soldered before, don’t let this be the first time. You can hold a crack together with some

duct tape for a while. It’s an affordable fix that will help for a little while, but duct tape is also unsightly and it isn’t a permanent solutions. Call out for repairs, or think about replacing your gutters if the damage is really bad. Depending on how damaged they are, repairs and replacements may cost in the range of a few hundred dollars.

Gutter Patches

Another cheap and easy way to fix small holes and cracks in your gutter is by applying a gutter patch.  There are patch kits that you can buy for problems that you may have now, as well as preventative patches. Depending on where you’re buying them, patches can be fairly affordable.  Before you apply the patch, take care to remove all of the rust in and around the crack or hole. Really make sure the whole area is clean so the patch can adhere well. Once you’ve applied it and let it dry, you’ll be able to paint over it and work it in with the rest of the exterior. A damaged gutter system is still manageable, if you take the right approach. If you decide to tackle the damage yourself, take care and be safe about it. You might be better off calling on a professional, but make sure to check their credentials and reviews. You don’t want to hire someone that does a shoddy job—in a few weeks or months, you’d be calling someone else.
